Born in Delhi, India, Pradeep Singh Ayer belongs to Doti, Nepal. Pradeep started playing cricket as a hobby at a very tender age. But little did he know that it will become his passion later on.
He started playing cricket at school-level and was selected for the Delhi under-16 team after a successful trial. After that, young Pradeep didn’t take part in the next two season trials. He missed two seasons, and during this time, he practiced hard to combine and perform for the team. After that, he was short-listed for Delhi under-19 camps, unfortunately; he met with an accident, and doctor advised him to take bed rest. Before he met with the accident, he was a key player in Air India.
After the accident, Pradeep was very tense to think about his career. While recovering, he started working on himself. The young lad from Doti, Nepal got a brilliant practice place, where he met some of the Indian, IPL, and Ranji players like Suresh Raina, Shikhar Dhawan, Pawan Negi, Jayant Yadav, Kulwant Khejroliya, Samarth Seth, etc.
When he fully recovered and got back to the field, Delhi’s Cricket was changed a lot. Although Pradeep tried to survive, he didn’t find a result. He was constantly performing at club levels, academy levels, and local tournaments. He thought about working harder and start working on grooming skills. His dad said to go to Nepal for a better opportunity.
Pradeep believed it is a good opportunity to play cricket for Nepal. He decided to move to Nepal for cricket but played in Delhi for almost 7 years to sudden switch to Nepal was not as easy as he thought he was the new face.
He gave trials of PM Cup Nepal but was not shortlisted. He was feeling very low and disappointed. But his parents were supportive. He said, “My parents and my cousins were very supportive. They constantly supported me from success to failure and one day I got a call from my brother. He said, hey there’s a Nepali tournament called KPL (Kailali Premier League), a district level tournament he asked me to play.”
Then, after consulting with his parents, Pradeep decided to play in KPL. He played three matches as an all-rounder and ended up scoring 90 runs and taking 6 wickets for his team. And now, the aspiring young talent is looking forward to be a part of the Nepal’s National Team very soon.
